Planning Commission

The Town periodically seeks residents interested in volunteering their time to serve on the Town of Cortland Planning Commission.  Interested residents are encouraged to submit an application, which may be obtained below or by contacting the Town of Cortland.  The application must be submitted in a sealed envelope to the Cortland Town Hall and addressed to the attention of Mayor Mark Pietrowski, 59 S Somonauk Rd, PO Box 519, Cortland, IL  60112-0519.  Applications will be reviewed and interviews conducted.  Appointments will be made by the Town President (Mayor) with consent of the Town Board.

The Planning Commission was established by State Statute and the Town Board to make recommendations concerning land use, rezoning, and land development application in the Town (residential, commercial and industrial), and to periodically amend the Town's Comprehensive Plan and/or Zoning Code.

This group is an advisory body made up of citizens, who make recommendations to the Town Board of Trustees.  The Planning Commission's regular meeting day is the first Thursday of each month at 7 p.m.  Click here to view the most recent agendas.

Candidates are appointed to fill current vacant terms; if there are none, then for three-year terms.

Serve your community by becoming a member of the Planning Commission!
